The Urquhart Memorial Foundation continued its commitment to “encouraging education” by presenting scholarships totaling $47,500 to 22 African – American students attending 4 – year Pennsylvania colleges and universities undergraduate programs.
On Sunday July 24, 2022 Co-Founders Ernest H. Urquhart and Michelle Urquhart hosted and welcomed student awardees and guests to a Virtual event celebrating them and nineteen years of giving over $1.5m to 825 students since the Foundation was established in 2002. The event was virtual but the students, the accomplishments and their hopes and visions for the future was real.
Eleven of the awardees were entering freshmen who also attended a required virtual workshop (“Helping to Navigate Your College Life”) on Saturday, July 23 led by UMF Board Member Karlynne Hathaway.
Keynote Speaker Linda Vanessa Wade of L.V. Wade Consulting, LLC inspired the audience with her message of survival and perseverance through the education journey and beyond. Robin Castle, senior attending Villanova University gave an enthusiastic student response.
The Urquhart Memorial Foundation proudly sends off another group of special scholars from Philadelphia on the next phase of their education pursuits to be the difference makers in the future.
